PCG-R600MX - How bto boot from an external cd/dvd device????
Hi,
i need your help... I've got a pcg-r600mx and want to install win-xp prof to a clean hard-disk...
but, as you know, this vaio doesn't have any drives (and I don't have the docking-station), so i would need to boot from an external drive. I have a USB 3,5" drive an a USB/FireWire external DVD-RW-drive.
but if I want to boot from one of these devices it doesn't find them..
i already tried everything (?) in the bios, but no success... (iLink boot is switched on and "cd" and "removable disk"s its not disabled in the list...
can you please help me, it's very important!!!
please reply here or send me an email...
thanx

You will need to get a floppy drive which is compatible with that series.

You need to have a device which is compatible with booting, like a Sony FDD or a Sony iLink DVD drive.

i tried it with 2 desktop-computers and a dell-notebook and i could boot each from the USB-FDD as well as from the FireWire/USB DVD-RW drive...
I think must be possible to do it with third-prty-devices.. not only sony, or???
