I am having power problems, and would be grateful for any advice. When the laptop is up and running and plugged into the mains it will not run on mains power but runs on the battery. However, when shut down or put into hibernate or standby modes the battery then charges! This happens whether the laptop is standing alone or when in its docking station (ie using different power connectors). I have put in a brand new battery but with no improvement. My current thinking is that perhaps the power supply (a genuine Sony PCGA-AC16V6) is not performing properly. The only other possibility that occurs to me is that it might be software related but I naturally don't want to do a full system restore unless all else fails. Has anyone else experienced this issue and resolved it?
