Pixel death
I have just noticed a small patch of pixels that appear to be permanently dark grey. This is on a 6-month old V505-BP. Anyone had similar problems?

I had a dead pixel about 2 weeks after recieving my rig. It's constantly red!
Next laptops gonna be an Acer or Toshiba.
yeah, I can see one red pixel on my screen - in addition to the ghastly grey smudge i mentioned at the top of this thread. SONY - are you listening???

hi,
if you have 4 or more dead pixels towards the center or main viewing area of your screen it is subject for replacement. if you have 7 or more dead pixels in the outer rimb or boarder area it is subject for replacement. the company will naturaly try to evade this, but wenn i had the same problems with FS i told them that I would not hesitate to get a settlement through a court, if they would not replace my screen.
i have a sony now... and my first stale pixel to bottom of the screen!

Sent my notebook back (having been told that the minimum number of 'dead' pixels to qualify for service under warranty is 20) and it has just been returned fixed and sorted. Gotta say, well done Sony this time.

I find the threshold for screen/rig replacement at 20 dead pixels in unacceptable, if I had >3 it would be a return to the vendor for a replacement. How can you be expected to pay upwards of £1k and accept 19 dead pixels as ok???
Mabye a generic budget laptop but SONY-it just serves to degrade the image the brand owns!

It all depends on who you speak to when discussing bad pixels. One employee will say one thing, another will give a different response, Sony is not alone with this problem.
Luckily screen quality has improved greatly over the years and the problem doesn't happen as often as it used to. I always view a notebook before I buy.
