Playing Blu-Ray Discs

I have a VGC-LT1S purchased in Jan 2008. It came bundled with "Spiderman 3" on Blu-Ray. To begin with this played perfectly well. I then bought "Open Season" on Blu-Ray; this played the first few times then WinDVD refused to play it. I then tried playing a further title "Dirty Harry" and this too failed to play. Solutions? I tried the support centre whom suggested running the 2 most recent updates for WinDVD. However, after downloading them each update would not install correctly.

I was then advised to re-install WinDVD by taking the PC back to its original factory settings. Now, this seems a bit drastic so I wondered if any other users had experienced the same problems?

Hi tintin77 and welcome.

Have you updated the Blu-ray Drive Firmware UJ-225 to Ver Q111?

You will probably have to run a recovery if you cannot install the updates. It is likely that some other software or an update has caused this problem and only a reinstall will correct it. Unfortunately you cannot reinstall WinDVD BD without reinstalling the original sortware.

Just check what version of WinDVD BD you have installed.

1. Open the directory "C:\Program Files\InterVideo\DVDBD8\" .
2. Right-click the file "WinDVD.exe", choose "Properties", click "Details" tab.
3. The "File version" should state: 8.0.9.429.
