Power calibration error(sony vaio vgn-fs315s)

I have a sony vaio vgn-fs315s and the last month i'm trying to burn cd's or dvd's without any result..i 'm receiving "power calibration error" all the time and i can't do anything.my firmware is up to date and last times i manage to burn a dvd or a cd with same setting and program it was ok...i'm also using vista ultimate edition so i can't disable imapi cd ......(something) from my pc services ,thing that you can do only on xp...
Please i need your help....anything...

Hi and welcome to CV,

Check Device Manager for errors is the first thing to do.

Start -> Type "Device Manager" -> hit enter

Say continue to the UAC prompt.

Expand DVD/CD ROM Drives and double click your drive.

In the device status box does it have an error or does it say "This device is working properly."?

Two reasons this can happen:

1) the media isn't up to the standard of the laser, so it finds it's not reliable so stops.

2) the drive has had it's day.
