I have a Sony 32 inch Widscreen tv with 100hz refresh rate. I have a PCV-RZ422P Vaio desktop with an nVidia Geforce FX 5200 Graphics card but am having problems viewing the vaio on the TV. The writing all looks tiny so I apologise for any spelling mistakes because I can't see them properly and at the sides of the screen everything is really blurred like the PC isn't recognising the size of the screen or that it's a flatscreen. I have downloaded the latest drivers for the graphics card but couldn't figure out what was worng. Any advice you can give me will be most welcome.
Hi,
Outputing a PC desktop to TV isn't ideal. The basic reason for this is that TV's are designed to be viewed from a distance of over 10 ft, whereas PC desktops are designed to be viewed from about 1 1/2 ft (try reading from a monitor at a distance of 5ft)
I think that you have the following options/combinations: -
1. Increase the font size of your desktop (somewhere in display properties)
2. Decrease your desktop resolution to something like 600x400 or the widescreen equivalent.
3. Don't use the TV for desktop functions like word processing, browsing etc, and instead install something like MyHTPC to give you a 'media centre' like interface to browse Video, Music, Photos etc.
I have in the past used all 3 where font size is 140%, resolution is 800x600. This I found was sufficient to use basic desktop functionality (but wouldn't use this for desktop word processing on the TV).
