problems connecting VGN-S1XP to TV

Hi all..
I have the VGNS1XP, which only has VGA out..
I have just bought a Sony Bravia LCDTV, and it doesn't have a VGA input on it :slight_frown:
I bought a cable off ebay which is a VGA - S-video lead.... I know its not ideal and won't give great quality, but it should at least work should it not?
I have booted the laptop up and the TV displays a black screen which flickers occasionally. I go to the desktop properties and try to attach the 2nd monitor, but that doesn't work..
can anyone help me? What am I doing wrong?
what will I need in the long run to be able to get HDTV from laptop to TV... will the docking station work?
many thanks

Phil

The Averkey Lite?

would I be able to output HiDef through that?
how much was it? £40?

I was swaying toward getting the docking station up till now. Might take a look at this.
is it easy to use and set up?
