RE: Sony VAIO VGN-AR51J
Good day all,
Can I ask if anyone has details on the 'motion eye' web camera, particularly its interupt requests (as a default machine I assume it will be assigned to the same on all laptops) and also can I ask its technical specifications, is it as I suspect connected through the PCI bus or is it connected via the USB? or possible something else, I am having great trouble finding much about it....
Can I also request details from sony as to what event 0x81 delivered over the ACPI management is. I assume it is something in relation to switching between battery and AC, but precisely?

Hi Paul and welcome to Club Vaio.
I'm afraid Sony do not reply to posts in this forum as it is not an official support channel. Only users like you and me contribute here on a self-help basis. If you want information from Sony you will have to use the official support channels to Vaio-Link Support. You will find phone, fax and e-support details here: -

I am not 100% certain but I think the webcams on Vaios are manufactured by Ricoh and are USB devices. I do not know the exact Ricoh model but the module is similar to this one: -

Yes Paul, 05ca is the ID for Ricoh but I can only find the ID 05ca:183b which is the camera fitted to the VGN-FZ2 Vaios (VCC8).
