Recovery needed for vaio laptop

Need to restore laptop to factory settings, is there a recovery partition on PCG-8113m and if so how do I kick it off please?

Hi Sarareid,

PCG-8113m is a chassis model not the product model number. You may find that this is a VGN-AR series -- have a look on the bottom right of the screen surround.

If this model has a recovery partition then tapping F10 at boot should open the recovery utility.

You should try and turn off your computer,  turn it back on and right after you turn it on start tapping the f10 key over and over to get to your sony vaio recovery process.  If this works then just follow the steps to recover back to factory settings.

If you don't have a recovery partition or if you've formatted your Hard Drive or replaced it then you will have to order the cd's.  Go here they should have your set.

Be aware that this is a US website, nothing to do with Sony and they do not have Recovery Discs for European Vaios.

In the US, it is far more reliable and no more expensive to buy Recovery Discs from the official Sony Support website here: -

http://esupport.sony.com/perl/select-system.pl?DIRECTOR=DRIVER&ref=http%3A//www.sony.com/index.php

and this does not involve giving your Credit Card details to an unknown company.

In Europe you should contact Vaio Support on the telephone contact number for your country.
