Refit VPCM13M1E / PCG-21313M palmrest?

I have a Vaio VPCM13M1E (PCG-21313M) netbook and I need to know how to refit the palmrest to the bottom casing. It clips back in easily all the way around apart from 4-5 clips at the front edge (where the power/wifi/audio ports are) which I cannot get clipped in.

Is there a special tool for this or something, or are they just incredibly tight?

Any advice appreciated. I've been trying to get this reassembled for hours.

Hi nivrig and welcome.

I have not seen full instructions - this video is the nearest: -

I guess it is just very tight!!

Hopefully, someone who has actually changed the HDD will reply?

Ah yes. That video is actually incorrect, as there is no need to dismantle the casing to swap the hard drive. With the two securing screws removed, the HDD caddy can be slid out through the battery compartment.

I finally managed to get my netbook back together but, as I broke a few of those difficult clips in the process and the casing doesn't *quite* close properly now, I'm sure the approach I used was incorrect too 😕 FWIW, the clips seemed to have been bent during separation and straightening them allowed me to fit the casing back together, but this repeated bending had weakened the plastic and some of them sheared off.

I'd still be interested to find out how to do this properly.
