Replacement of cd/dvd drive.

Hello.
I own SONY VAIO FS-215z and I have some problems with my cd/dvd drive (Matshita UJ-840D). I was thinking about changing this drive into new one but:

1. I don't know how to remove old cd/dvd drive. Please tell me

2. I don't know what kind of drive should I buy. What do You think about this one:

Will it fit? May by You can recommend some other drives.

Hi dzilins,

I attach the manual for taking the FS-Series apart at the bottom of this post. Have a look at Page 9.

Any slimline drive will fit - just make sure it has the same form factor. The problem can be getting the end plate that matches your Vaio to fit onto the new drive. This can be minimised by using a drive of the same make as your present one (Matshita/Panasonic).

Thanks. It's great  .

But I can use the end plate that I have now in my recorder. What do You think? Will it fit to new drive?

I can't find anyone selling this make (Matshita/Panasonic). Besides I don't want Matshita recorder anymore because the one I have now has broken quite fast  .
