Have you reinstalled ALL the Sony Utilities?

I can't give you a link as you haven't told us the Vaio model.

You should really install everything from the Originally Installed Drivers and Utilities.

However, for your particular problem you have probably not reinstalled the SFEP driver.

Go to the downloads page for your model here: -

http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computing/vaio/downloads/preinstalled/index.aspx?l=en_GB&m=VGN-AW11S_B

Reinstall the following in order: -

  1. Sony Shared Library
  2. Setting Utility Series
  3. SFEP
  4. Vaio Event Service.

The SFEP driver must be installed from within Device Manager.  Do you have a device with a yellow warning saying that the driver is not installed?

There is also an update for the Setting Utility Series under the 'Updates' Tab.

I did them in that order but they still did't work.

This is a long shot but try reinstalling Setting Utility Series, reboot and then reinstall Vaio Event Service. This worked for me on a similar model after installing the drivers in set order failed to correct the problem.

Are there any devices in Device Manager that show a yellow warning that the driver is not installed properly?

There are no yellow warnings in the device manager.
