I have tried several times to rebuild my laptop (Vaio S5/XP) but am still having a little difficulty...
I want to build it with my own software and just have a basic build of XP, all necessary drivers and the KEY Sony software...
Can anyone give me assistance with this as Sony have told me they will not!
I can load XP onto the machine but then I would like to know what drivers / patches etc needed to be loaded in what order...
Once this is done I would like to load the Vaio update software (which is useful for checking latest BioS etc) and probably Sony Vaio power management. Where do I get the update software from and is there anything else I should add...
I have my own XP and MS office and just want a clean stable build but with all devices working correctly...
Any help truly appreciated...
Anyone ???
Hi icklesimba and welcome to ClubVAIO.
Most people who try this end up with problems. For this reason we do not recommend it unless you must do it to connect to a network. In addition you will lose Sony support and endanger your warranty. Your Sony product is designed to run with the Sony modified OS.
If you really must do this have a look HERE but it is an old article. Get your Preinstalled Utilities and Drivers from Vaio-Link
Make sure you make at least TWO sets of the Recovery Discs before you start or there may be tears later!
