Screen going blank on Laptop

My Laptop screen has suddenly started to go blank and only displays when opened to its maximum.

As my Vaio is only a week old, is this a dodgy connection (which I'm not going to touch) or is it a software issue?

Hi littlest_hobo and welcome.

It is almost certainly a bad connection and I would take it back to the seller and ask for it to be replaced.

The seller is responsible for selling you a working Vaio and should replace it within the first 28 days without you having to send it away for repair.
