slow play of dvd

Hi my vaio fx 804 dvd cdrw player has recently decided not to work properly. When i try and play a dvd the video and audio play too slow and everything i have tried does not seem to work. Any ideas how to cure this annoying problem.

That's a weird problem and not one I've seen before. Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the DVD player software from the recovery disk(s)?

Yeah because if it was a bad drive they'd probably not play at all.

Have tried re installing still no luck. My DMA is active also. Any other ideas? Thanks

The only thing that I can think of is that someone has set a "Play in" time.

Search the WinDVD help for "timestretching" and that should tell you how to check the setting is correct.

If it doesn't work after changing the timestretch setting then try using Videolan - I've just discovered it and it is V good. See the topic in the Third Part Software forum.
