sony mouse freezing

hiya
just recently purchased a sony BX and the mouse has frozen twice always when you switch it on then you cannot do anything except keep switching it off and on and tehn by the 10th time it may unfreeze should i send it back to sony?

Hi Ayesha and welcome to Club Vaio.

It could be several things but a device conflict with something else seems likely.

The first thing to try is to reinstall the drivers. I assume it is the touchpad and not an external mouse?

Start>Right-click on My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager

Click on the small cross next to 'Mice and other pointing devices' to expand the section. Is there a yellow warning symbol against any entries? You should have something like 'Alps Pointing Device for Vaio'. Right-click on it and click on Uninstall. Now re-boot your Vaio which will force Windows to reinstall your touchpad drivers.

If this doesn't work, come back here and we can try something else.
