Sony PCG-9P9M problem

Hello All,

Just wondered if anybody can offer me any help or advise????

I have a sony vaio PCG-9P9M (I know its a dinosaur) but still works ok for me...

The problem I have is that I have bought "windows XP Pro" and wanted to install it on a
new 120 gig hard-drive,

Its starts off ok and when it gets to press F8 to except and continue mine does not let me do this no matter what I do nothing happens, although I can when I use anything else.ie spell check???

Is there some protection that sony has put in place to stop you doing this??? ( I can use the recovery cd no problem)

Cheers,

Tam

I hope this is in the right place..........

Hi Tam,

The only possible limitation is the old ATA limit of 137GB so you should not have a problem.

What specification hard disc have you bought? Is it ATA-100?

I think your model is the PCG-K115M (it is always confusing when people quote the chassis number) and I would not expect a problem.

Are you following method 3 in this guide?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316941

Is it the F8 after you have seen the license agreement?

Hi tamcox,

did you have a problem with the F8 prior to installing the HDD.?

have you tried using an external keyboard.?
