Sony's DVD-drive Matshita UJ-840D keeps opening

Hello,

I have a problem on my FS series laptop. The cd/dvd drive bay keeps opening, on the lightest of touches to the bay. Ironically half the opening button does not work.

Sony have constantly asked me to re-install XP and do recoveries, which I have done at least 10 times. They did say they'll arrange pick-up for repair and I gave them all contact detailsbut that was almost 6 mnths ago.

Any help?

Should I buy a drive from Ebay/PCworld? but that would invalidate my warranty

Hi drali,

You could try and find a replacement drive but if you are under warranty (or were at the time of asking for the repair) then I would contact vaio-Link again to chase up the pick-up and repair...:smileysad:
