I've had my Vaio VPC-SB4C for about 5-6 weeks now, no problems other than it being a bit noisy from time to time when it gets warm.
Used it this morning and this afternoon it won't boot up.
AC adapter has a green light on, I've tried the troubleshooting tips (removing battery, pressing power button for 5 secs, replacing battery etc) but all to no avail. No LED's, nothing.
Have called Customer Support and am going to get a call back tomorrow after spending 30 mins on the phone to a premium rate number, nice!
As ever, I really need to access my laptop for my work, ideally today, I can see this is not going to happen!
Has anyone experienced anything like this or can offer any assistance?
Hi sjaarnaeh and welcome.
As there is no response at all, it is most likely to be a failure in the Power Switch/Board which will need a repair.
All you can try is what you have tried already - remove the battery and external power, hold the power switch down for 30 seconds, reboot on mains power only.
Clutching at straws, you could try reseating the memory modules if you have the battery cover off. Another possibility is that the lid closed switch is stuck in the closed position.
Sorry I can't be of much help.
Good Luck
Hi Blencogo,
Thanks for the reply! The mains power thing definitely doesn't work, most frustrating! As for the other possibilities, I wouldn't really know where to begin with them!
Do you have any idea what sort of timescales Sony do repairs in by any chance? And if they would repair something this new or just offer a replacement?
Thanks
At start up, when the VAIO logo appears on the computer's screen, tap the F10 key and the VAIO Recovery Wizard appears. Follow the on-screen prompts. get more information http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110707025207AA5jq1b

More rubbish from KatherineYH (and definitely not to be taken seriously).
If you bother to read the question, you will know that the Vaio cannot be turned on and will not get to the Vaio Logo screen.
Do you actually own a Vaio? You are seriously misleading people who come here for help.
