Sony VAIO VPCEB4X0E mic only picking up loud noises

My mic can only pick up load noises, e.g. if i flick the mic or shout loud etc...

I can't talk into it, because it doesn't pick up any sound volume.

Please help me!

  1. Right click the speaker icon next to the clock in the task bar.
  2. Select recording devices.
  3. Find your microphone, right click it and select properties.
  4. Search for an option called 'Microphone boost' or '+20db gain' in the microphone properties and enable it.

The above should fix the problem if my guess is right and the microphone amplifier is disabled.

Good luck.

Thanks, but  i uped it to 20dB and i still get the same result.. No sound.

Where do i check if my amplifier is disabled?

Enabling the +20db option is the amplification I meant.

You may have adjusted the recording volume within a software which then passed on that setting to windows.

I'd check the volume mixer's recording settings.
