sp2 STRANGE really strange problems

hi there

I have a problem with sp2 on vaio A195Ep a series of course.
When I right click a folder and only a folder not a file or disk
and then click properties the property window wont open the same thing when i click sharing and secuirty , I cant see a folder's properties
Any ideas.

Also outlook started after windows boot but I fixed it with a bios update.

Finally after i log in in to my account and windows seem to finished loading , they didnt because the network icons dont seem to be on taskbar and they appear only 2-3 minutes later.

has anyone experienced the same problems?Any ideas

thanx fotis

Hi fotiselianos, I can only answer your 2-3 minute problem, this is a bug in Windows where the startup tasks aren't processed properly, I believe it is Windows Explorer where the problem lies, so disabling startup tasks won't fix it. I'm afraid I haven't managed to find a solution to it on Google, and when I posted on Microsofts community exhange they didn't answer me so maybe you can have a better luck asking there. If you can ever find your question again that is.

the 2-3 minute problem is due to the drivers of the network card not fully functioning with sp2..

i think sony have released an update so go check on vaio link for an updated network driver...

another guy had this problem the other day and it worked for him

ok I fixed things so I post the solution in cases someone else needs it. Thank you guys for the response

The solution about the non opening of the folder properties is as strange as the problem.
The problem is caused by the inetinfo.exe known as World Wild Web publishing service. If you open the Administrative Tools->Services and select the above service u will see that it is in a "starting" status neither stopped nor started. This starting status is caused by 3d parties firewalls like Norton , Zone Alarm etc. that block the WWW publishing service and preventing it from starting.

Solution: change the service to start manually not automatically, or change the firewall rules for total access of the service.

Why the problem occured after SP2 installation: In my opinion Windows Firewall is configured not to block this service but by turning off the Windows Firewall and protecting Windows with a 3d party firewall mess things up. The strange thing is that this problem occured to other people prior to SP2

Anyway the solution at most cases is the above
