spilled coffee in keyboard ..

so now 7 keys won't work anymore, i already took the keyboard out (its a VGN-A117) and have been looking for a store of service center where I could order just the keyboard but can't find one .. is it at all possible ? And if so does anyone know of a service center in Belgium that fixes Sony portables ? (I found several service centers but they only fix video/TV/audio products).

Have you cleaned the keyboard? Maybe some contacts are dirty.

the keyboard is replaceable but at a high cost i would imagine it sony! the only place you would probably be able to get one is sony, 0870 2402408, if its not in warranty they will even charge you for the call,

goodluck!

Considering that the A117 is not on the market that long its very unlikely that its out of warranty, so there will be no service fee.

The replacement of the keyboard will be chargeable though.

I don't know all differents between the A1**, A2** and A3**. But maybe you can use a keyboard from the A2**.

Yes, but thats not how it works.

If your Vaio has warranty they will not charge you a service fee for the telephone support, no matter if you have a warranty repair, an out of warranty repair, or just an issue that can be solved over the phone.

If the unit is out of warranty you will have to pay the service fee when you call the first time. If you decide not to repair it, or if your query was solved over the phone the fee will not be refunded. If you have the unit repaired at your cost the service fee is deducted from the repair price.

Try hoovering the dust out and then the keys which dont work, if you slide them up, with just enough pressure, they come off, clean the bit under the key and slide it back in, till it clicks.

b]Now, you'd be doing it at your own risk.

If you are not sure about it, then please do not. However on the other hand I think that if its not working and sony doesnt have support for it, then it is definitely worth a shot.
It has worked for me in the past.[
