Hello,
I own a FW31ZJ vaio and recently I bought a ssd (Corsair Nova Series 64gb) replacing the old hdd.
I don't know for sure if the ssd has issues or if the notebooks configuration limits the performance of the ssd.
After installing a fresh copy of Windows 7 x64 I'm having small freezes when typing/create folders etc.
These lag spikes in typing occur very often and they are starting to be annoying. When I type the yahoo messenger window goes in a non responding state for like a second and after that the letters appear quickly, or when I press send for the message it thinks for like half a second.
I personally thought that this is a yahoo messenger problem, but now I see that when I try to create some folders or do other windows actions these freeze occurs too.
All the configuration like indexing and caching etc for the normal hdd have been disabled since for the ssd they don't help. From what I read there are some option that may interfere with the ssd itself, if AHCI is enabled in the bios the ssd may have a sluggish behaviour. Since the vaio bios doesn't offer this option (security issues I guess) I was wondering maybe if VAIO tech should consider updating the bios giving us the option to set on or off the AHCI feature.
Or if anyone knows more about ssd and windows configuration or even if they had this problem please share the info. I hardly doubt the fact that the ssd may have hardware or firmware issues.
Thank you.
