stereo sound / line in recording features on vista

Where have the "stereo sound mix" and "line in record" etc. options gone in vista?

I have a AR21M and the option to record sound that was being played on the devise at the time was avaliable in XP but it has now gone.

The only sound option to record is Mic.

Welcome to the club,
Sonic stage mastering studio lets you use the mic jack as a line input or the better option is a usb input 3 available using a midi usb converter linked to a separate mixer. Now I'm not saying it this is great audio mixing software like fruity loops, cool edit, you name it but a least usb is a better input alternative to a 3.5 jack. Go ahead and install fruity loops its one of my favorites.

Total Recorder (http://www.highcriteria.com/) will record what's feeding thru your soundcard, i used this as I didn't realise you could record those other ways on XP! I'm sure there's a vista version, or an open-source/freeware alternative.

Am I answering the right question?
