SVE1511L1EW DVD stopped working?

My notebook SVE1511L1EW DVD stopped working suddenly. I also tried to update VAIO Care but it wouldn't. I am not a computer wiz and would someone guide. Sony tectical help is imposible to rich. If there was a way to directly contact them I would. If you knowdo pls tell me. Thanks

The Vaio update problem is a known issue and is unconnected with your optical drive problem. Have a look at this thread for more detail.

Regarding the optical drive problem can you please check that the drive is recognised in Device Manager and that it is reported as working correctly - if there are are any error codes against this device please let us know.

To open Device Manager click Start > Control Panel > Device Manager.
