Hi rene thomas and welcome to Club Vaio.

All computers have a hardware clock which keeps the correct time while the computer is turned off. This runs on a small battery.

It sound like the battery has died.

Some are easily replaced and some are soldered in place.

What model PC does your friend have?

Hi Blencogo,

Thanks twice for your fast replay
I have never foud this Plan

Tomorrow i run to my computer-shop and try to get one.
I found the place in this plan by using the search option of FireFox.
part 210 ....... (do you mean this one?).

Do you think that this battery is the reason?
Must it be a orginal sony-battery?
Or can i use a battery which looks exactly like sony?

Have a nice day

Hi again,

No I don't think that is the correct part - it is a part for the door to the main battery.

You need THIS SONY RTC BATTERY - but I can't find it on the diagram.
