Toshiba SDR6012 Problem

Hello!

Has anyone experienced problems with Toshiba SDR6012 Problem
(built into some models of Vaio Notebooks - i have FR215H) ?

Here the problems I have:

1)
Writing CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW reports no problems,
but after inserting written disc back again it shows NO content.
When inserting into another drive (eg my home-pc) it shows
NO content too...
Everything worked for some months and now suddenly it doesn't.
I also tried updating firmware, didn't make any change!

2)
Doesn't read every DVD-R/-RW (no talking about +R/+RW,
i know they are not supported by the drive)
Hadn't any problems for some months -> was reading every DVR-R
and this changed too suddenly...

Please help - if anyone knows something or has a link with explanations for solving that problem - would be great!

Try using a DVD lens cleaner - I like the dry ones - I had a nasty accident once with the wet type.

You will be surprised how much dirt can come off the lens. If this is intermittent then this might with a bit of luck solve your problem.
