Touchpad

My previous (Evesham) laptop had a useful function incorporated in the touchpad. If you tapped and dragged, when your finger reached the edge of the touchpad, the dragged object continued to move across the screen (window/desktop) until you removed your finger from the touchpad. Does anyone know of a way of configuring the Vaio Alps touchpad to do this?

Thanks for your help.

If you look in the touchpad properties I think you'll find some "mouse gestures" which you can use in the same manner.

The Alps pads normally use a different technique. They have a delay on releasing the drag lock so that you can continue the movement by moving your finger to another part of the pad to continue the drag.

It is only Synaptics pads that incorporate the edge dragging system.

Its very useful too, save me reaching for the USB mouse!:smileyhappy:

I guess I'll have to get used to the drag lock then. But presumably the edge dragging is just a software function - has anyone tried using a synaptics driver on a Vaio????
