I've got a new hard drive on my Sony Vaio VPCF12Z1E, I can not get my keys to work again, all the blue when you press Fn F3 to adjust the sound for example.? Can anyone help with how to get it working again?
Hi Hoeffding,
I assume that you have installed your own OS as opposed to recovering from the Sony recovery media?
To get the Fn keys working install the following preinstalled drivers and utilities which can be downloaded from the Support site.
http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/VPCF12Z1E_BI/updates
• Setting Utility Series
• Sony Shared Library
• VAIO Event Service
• VAIO Control Center
• Also, if you have installed your own OS, the SFEP driver needs to be correctly installed (first) in Device Manager for some models. If applicable, you will find this driver in the Original Drivers section.
The SFEP driver will need to be installed from within Device Manager using the Have Disk method...
Extract the files from the installation package to a known location.
Click Start > Control Panel.
Double click Device Manager.
Right click the device and select Properties
Click the Driver tab.
Click Update Driver.
Click Browse my computer for driver software.
Click Let me pick from a list...
Click Have Disk....
Click Browse and navigate to the folder where you placed the extracted files.
Click OK.
Click Next.
Click Finish.
Reboot your system if requested.

Most likely not all the drivers are loaded here. Check device manager. It would show you which drivers need to be installed.
