TROUBLE WITH VAIO FZ11Z LCD SCREEN

I bought my VAIO FZ11Z in Aug 2007, by spending a huge amount of £1300/-. i never use more than a hour everyday.

Problem is:
Sometimes the screen goes blank as if some light is switched off and i could see the screen content without the backlight. If i close the Lid and then Open i will get the backlight. Is it problem with VAIO laptops? is it due to failure of quality control?

Please let me know whether its better to sell my laptop and go for a better one.

Yeah! I remember having this problem a few years ago on my FZ11Z. However, four years down the line and maybe three re-installs later, it's never happened again.
