Unable to extract R0232U2.exe

Unable to extract R0232U2.exe told I "sorry you do not have the permission to extract the file" and yet I am local admin any ideas why does the exe have a green padlock symbol on it?.

I have also installed the hotkey utility but the FN keys still do not work.

I have a PCG SRX41P with Windows XP SP1 installed.

It doesnt request a password I'm afraid.

This is the info from the vaio website:

This program will update BIOS on the VAIO models listed below :

PCG-SRX41P
PCG-SRX51P
PCG-SRX51P/A
PCG-SRX51P/B

This BIOS Upgrade fixes following issues :

- Add support for Microsoft Bluetooth Stack

1. Download Instructions

1. Download the file R0232U2.exe, and save it to a download directory (ex. C:\Download\).
2. Go the download directory, and double-click R0232U2.exe.
3. A popup will appear : This will extract all files to C:\Download\R0232U2\. Press OK to continue.
4. A popup will appear : All files have been extracted successfully !
5. Press OK to finish.

No mention of a password being needed.

I managed to resolve the hotkey issue after finding this link:

http://esupport.sony.com/support/pops/osmig/xpclean.html

And installing the sony shared library files and the ui library issue resolved.

Sorry, I can't help you with an BIOS update, because I have never done this.

Strange that it doesn't work.
Take it you have re-downloaded the file?

Yes I've donwloaded it twice. Why provide a file then have it locked makes no sense been searcing the sony websites for the application name Install Lock to no avail.

Try installing WinZip.
If that doesn't work then VAIO Link need to be contacted.

This may sound a silly question but have you changed the original Windows operating system? It seems the only plausible reason for the file being locked.
