UPGRADE POSSIBILITIES

UPGRADE POSSIBILITIES

Just saw the new VGC-LA1 and i have to admit I am a bit jealous that my VGC-V3M has been left behind already.

Was just wondering if there was a way of upgrading my desktop and paying the difference to get the new desktop. Is any one aware of this service in the UK from sony??

Many thanks for those who help

Hi unstoppable_hove,

I don't think Sony offer such a service..:smileysad:

You could try selling your VGC-V3M on E-bay or similar..:smileyhappy:

Thanks for your reply Thalamus however being a non-experienced seller on e-bay (I have only purchased) I feel that I wouldn’t receive a truly justified price for my desktop giving that it is still a top piece of Sony equipment.

Once again thanks

You're quite right, you'd never make the money back

Trying to have the "latest model" is a waste of time, with a desktop you can upgrade it fairly simply as you have recognised, don't worry about the model number, just as long as it does what you need/want

Whilst i understand where you are coming from apierc1 the upgrade was partly for the new capabilities of the VGC-LA1 including the built in WLAN however there are also some features that i can not upgrade such as the hardware itself.

However from past experience shows that if you keep a desktop for longer than 3 years you are bound to lose more than you would from changing it after say 2 years regardless of upgrades.

Thanks for you views though

I am an owner of PCV-V1 which is an older model in the same series. Practically speaking, if you'd like to have the latest technology all the time then PCV-V are definitely not something for you. They are very hard to repair (when they have a problem) and even worse, they can only be done by specialised Sony people (I'd recommend getting an extended warranty for them)

But if you really would like an upgrade then like someone else suggested, sell it on E-bay or to a friend while it is still working and you'd get a good enough price for it.
