Upgrading processor : Pentium M 740 to 780 or more ? [VGN-FS315H]

All is in the title : can I do it with this model : VGN-FS315H ? And as the chipset is i915pm, can I put an Dual Core ?

Hi sangohanfly and welcome.


The motherboard in your FS315H has a processor socket 479 and this is only compatible with Intel Pentium M and Celeron M 3xx processors and so is your 915PM Chipset.


All the compatible processors are listed here: -

In theory, you could put a M780 but because the chipset only supports 2GB of RAM and the Graphics are too old to run the Aero interface in Vista.Win7, it probably is not worth the cost or effort.
