Upgrading RAM,CPU and HD in my Sony Vaio VGN-A217M
Hi to all,
my questions are:
1. Can I update my RAM in my VGN-A217M, up to 1GB? :smileygrin:
2. Can I update my CPU, from 725 to another much powerful like 745 (max up to ??? ) ? :smileygrin:
3. Can I update my HD from 80 GB 4200rpm to another one of 120 GB 7200rpm of any manufacturer???
4.How can I recognize my mainboard?
5.How can I update the bios?

Hi bugax,
here are my answers:
1.) yes
2.)don't know, but I think you can't do this
3.) yes, but you should mirror the data of your 80 GB harddisk before exchange to a bigger harddisk (especially the recovery partition)
4.)difficult to recognize your mainboard; try sisoft sandra or any similar software
5.) try vaio update. You should find new bios versions with installer, if available for your vaio.

I've another question, can I update my ram with PC 3200 400 MHz instead of PC 2700 333 MHz
Running everest, this is the screenshot for chipset
I've visited Crucial site and give me PC 2700....but can I use PC 3200 with this chipset...
