I have recently installed a copy of Windows Vista Business Edition on my VGN-N11H/W and all is good except that my USB mouse doesn't work... in fact no USB mice work!
The computer is set up to dual boot and in XP all is good, but in Vista it complains the drivers are out of date ("designed for Windows 95 or later")... these are the drivers Vista preinstalled, how can they be out of date!?
All other USB devices work fine... I simply cannot understand this! I have tried about 5 different brands of USB mice, but all to no avail!
Hi Markrduk,
I was just reading your post then & you failed to mention anything about Downloading the Vista Utilites & Software along with the Updated Drivers which can be found on HERE (Dont miss the tags at the bottom as Utilites are on the Other side) Post back here once you have tryed this
I have installed all the updates, utilities, etc, etc. Unfortunately they don't seem to make a difference to the mouse!
The N-Series of notebooks do need a separate USB Mouse driver when using XP. I'm not sure about Vista but it is probably worth trying: -
Sony® PCGA-UMS1 USB Mouse Driver Utility
Nope! Still no luck - thanks for trying though. I have posted a screen-shot of the error message that appears if that helps.
It talks about seeing a hardware vendor, but what hardware vendor - this happens with every single USB mouse I try! Surely this should be a built-in windows driver!?
It may also be worth pointing out that I tried booting into safe mode and installing the mouse, but had the same problem!
I would really appreciate some help with this if anybody can give it. Since the Sony support is pretty much non-existant! Is it likely to be Sony's fault or Microsoft's?!?! Any clues?
Thanks
