I've got a DCR-PC100E is it possible to use this in MSN messenger? How? Or are there better programs to do this?
Ive used a camcorder on my desktop and it works fine.
Just a case of yellow composite to yellow composite. And of course if you want to use the mic you need a phono to mic jack connector, but with a little fiddle it works fine. You will get amazing cam and sound quality in relation to any webcam. The big bonus is that you can stream your home movies over the messenger webcam too. Personally i use Yahoo, but i dont think there is too much difference in comparison to MSN, its more a case of which messenger your freinds tend to use
Best wishes Mark
unrelated, is it possible to do with the DSC-P200 too? I mean I can record stuff on the camera and also have an AV-cable, I was wondering if its about software?
That'll be wicked!
I don't think the digital cameras can do it even if they have a video function, I tried. Might be able to do it via firewire, I'm not sure but with your standard kit I couldn't manage it.
The advantage of quality over a webcam will be quite minimal unless you have a very good upload speed and the person you are sending to has a very good download speed. Even ordinary webcams would need a 1Mb download rate to get a really good smooth picture.
And a really big traffic. And could be expensive, unless you have a Flatrate with a unlimited Volume.
I've not been able to do it on my camera or U30
