The battery on my Vaio notebook now lasts five minutes and while still showing 82% unused crashes even before the recorded announcement of low battery is completed. Is there any way of reviving batteries?
The first battery is obviously not going to be as good as it was, due to it's age.
The second one should be OK though
yeah. thats why im a little worried it might be the laptop that is the problem. that would be devastating.
The contacts at the back are all clean and shiny, no oxidation. and the fact that it charged a little bit (went from 92 - 100%) is a good sign... anyway, i guess ill have to wait for the new battery to come then...
Yeah see how that goes.
hi..
got my battery today. put the laptop on charge and it was blinking twice as the manual said it should
after 30 mins tho, it stopped. so i turned the laptop on, without power supply plugged in
it turned on. when it got to the win xp logo, it battery light started blinking very rapidly so thinking it wasnt charged enough, i put in the power supply
checking windows battery , it says 100% charging and checking vaio power panel, it says 0%, battery critical, 0 mins to shut down.
i took off the power supply for 10 seconds, and it held up but the rapidly blinking lights arent going.
i have now turned off the laptop with power supply in it and the battery and it still is blinking very rapidly.
any advise on why is that or any ideas?
Cheers
hi..
urned the laptop on, without battery
Definately a defect in the battery bay I'm afraid.
the amount of expletives i am expressing right now are appalling.
are there any particular spare parts that need to be bought for that?
I have no idea, but I understand you're fuming, so would I!
hmm hi, i think i can say i have stopped fuming in a way.. the battery i just got is not an original so it doesnt give you exact percentage. i let it run on batteries last night and it gave me 3 hours and 45 minutes of browsing the internet on a network cable.... that isnt bad. i left it to charge after that and it double blinked the whole time!
i guess its wrking after alll, im now on battery power again, checking how long it takes to die... sony says its 0% left and windows say its on ac power.... so i guess i have an idea how much time it works for now (around the 3 hour mark)....
the two previous batteries were original, so i guess they are gone...
thanks for the help everyone especially kee-lo
now i just need a touchpad cable, get it in and a new hard disk. this one makes too much buzzing noise like a desktop....
im happy now:) hope it all works out
SInce it is not an original battery, it probably does not have the in-built electronics which communicate the power status of the battery ("info-lithium").
Just remember to keep work saved (set up "auto save" in Word, Excel etc.) just incase you run the battery until it turns the laptop off.
