Your T2300 processor does not fully support 64-bit systems.

Core Duo only supports 32-bit - you need Core 2 Duo for 64-bit.

Sony only support the 32-bit system and there are only a few 64-bit programs to run. Although 64-bit is going to be a thing of the future, it is not practical for normal home usage yet - so you are not missing out.

Save yourself a lot of frustration and use the 32 bit edition, 64bit drivers are rarer then MS actually making a decent OS.

Na, 64bit drivers aren't rare. I would say it's nearly 47,5/52,5.
These 5% are mainly hardware like HiMD recorders and other exotic stuff.
Vista64 is far better supported than XP x64 ever.

Well, on OEM systems like Sony VAIO PCs, it's better to go for 32bit.
Because they won't support an OS which is different to the preinstalled one.
That isn't really a drawback, because you will get a PC which just works.

No trouble with bad drivers. :dizzy:

Can you not take it back to the retailer and swap it. Tell them it was so confusing and the amount of Vista releases made you make a major error.
