HI ive had a Vaio's for three years and on my latest one a vaio K415S my first big problem has arised. so here i go, on my laptop chassis it says PCG-K415S but in the settings and bios says vaio K315Z(GB) as the model number so when i make recovery disks it makes them for a vaio K315Z(GB)m, so when insert the disks it starts up, the small blue screen appears but an error box pops up saying "CANNOT PERFOM THIS UTILITY PLEASE CONFIRM THE MODEL TYPE" and im back to square 1 please help me as i want give this laptop my daughter and i want a new vaio if i can sort this one out.

Try recovering your Vaio from the Hard Drive Recovery: -
1.Reset the BIOS Defaults: -
Turn on your VAIO.
When you see the Sony logo, press F2 several times.
You will get the PhoenixBIOS Setup Utility window.
Press F9 to get default values and then press ENTER to confirm.
Press F10 to save changes and exit and then press ENTER to confirm.
You have restored the default values and your VAIO will now restart.
2. Connect to AC Power.
Turn on the Vaio.
When you see the Sony logo, press F10 several times.
Follow the procedure for a full recovery back to factory settings.
Let us know if you continue to have problems.
sorry no joy still the same error im starting to think the unthinkable and just reinstalling xp what will happen to the hidden partion and could i download all the software of the vaio website.
