VAIO - RXG408 - DVD Writer problems

Hi
I have recentlu used my recovery disks to restore the system and now find that my dvd writer won't write. It will play back ok. Anyone help please.

I have an RX405 and the only software that recognises the DVD burner is the Sony video software "Click to DVD".
Windows XP thinks it is just a CD burner so will not recognise DVDs.

Maybe yours is the same...

I havent tried Nero or other software.

There are firmware updates for your optical drive available here. Worth a try?

The firmware offered for the RX405 is for a toshiba DVD drive. Mine is fitted with a Pioneer drive, therefore no update exists.

At some point I will get a copy of Nero and give that a go.

Sorry, I was referring to the original post by MObanded and the problem with the RXG408.
