hi everyone

just been given one of these recently which had the ram upgraded to 1g so vista would run on it ok(so i am told)...it originally had xp as the op system but i know that the previous owner also had windows 32bit running on it aswell...i have done a fresh install of win 7 but have lost the use of the usb ports and the screen is not the full size to the monitor...i have downloaded various drivers etc and when that failed i reverted back to vista and still same problem...is the only way to have xp on then doing upgrade to vista then win 7 as i think am losing the plot... any help at this moment would be apprechiated

Hi greenman1969 and welcome.

With a maximum RAM of 1GB, this model works best with XP but Sony do provide most of the drivers and utilities to run Vista.  You can download them here: -

However, you will need to find a suitable graphics driver for the nVidia GeForce FX Go5700 chip to get the screen display correct and Sony do not provide one.  Try Google.
