HELLO! I HAVE A VAIO VGN FE11S. LATELY I HEAR A STRANGE NOISE, SIMILAR TO A WHISTLE, WHICH SEEMS TO COME OF THE SCREEN. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS IS A NORMAL PROBLEM. THANK YOU.

Do you get the whistle sound when your Vaio is running on AC power or battery?

If the sounds only heard when running your Vaio on battery does the sound disappear if you put the screen brightness to maximum?

Thank you for the answer.
I hear the whistle when mine vaio is working with the battery and when it is linked to the AC power. I don't always hear this noise, but per times the sound appears and it is very displeased.
It is an annoying noise.
Any idea?

Whine fix
Some users, included myself, notice a small, high pitched noise coming from the notebook. This is extremely annoying if you're in a silent enviroment. I've come up with a solution to this. Download RMClock , and under "Management" enable "Run HLT command when OS is idle". Restart the program and the sound is gone - for ever. You can also make it start with Windows, so you'll never have to bother with it again. This WILL shorten your batterylife, but only with 3-7%, according to my tests.

Could this help. Is it a small squeeking type of noise?
