After some time the camera in my lap top  disappeared, as there is no functionality inmid anywhere .... can you help me please;

Are you still using Windows XP?

Does the camera appear in Device Manager under Imaging Devices?  Are there any unknown USB devices shown in Device Manager?

Hi. How many days since the camera was working fine and were there any changes made before that? You can probably do a system restore. By windows definition, it should not delete your files.

Try checking out device manager first. right click on any yellow question mark and hit update.
