Hello all
My daughter-law uses a viao vgn-nw20zf for her busness, recently she has lost the display on the screen, she gets brightness but nothing else.
She bought a monitor which she connects to the laptop and keys fn until she gets the missing display on her screen, but its very cumbersome having to take both to her office each day.
Has anyone got any ideas to the way to go to fix this? My first thought is that she needs a new screen, but someone having experience of this problem may be able to hel
TIA
Hi jamdown2010,
Unfortunately this problem could be a result of at least three things:
Cabling between motherboard and screen – loose connection.
A motherboard problem.
Defective screen.
The only way to determine the cause is to disassemble, check connections to the screen and if that doesn’t correct the issue attach a working LCD screen via the LCD video cable.
Unless you are competent with this work I suggest you contact a local repairer or one of Sony’s repair partners.

Thank you rich
I cant believe it i have just switched on my own vpcee3zoe, lo and behold I have just adjusted the angle of the screen and I am getting the same problem (at a certain angle intermittently) and I have just had it since dec 2010. not good. is this a common fault with these recent vaio's I wonder.
This is not good.
Hi jamdown2010,
I don’t know whether this is a common problem but I did experience the same with a VGN-AR series. This also manifested itself when adjusting screen angle which resulted in the lower half of the screen fading to white. The outcome was a screen replacement.

hello rich912
in my case i bought from costco and it carried a 2 yr guarantee, shouldn't be any problem, unfortunately not so in daughter-law's case.
in my pre - retirement years was comfortable working with various equipment (still have my antistatic wrist strap) so might have a go on hers.
thanks for your insights
