Hello people, we bought the above model for work without realising that Sony have no support for this model under XP pro. Basically we have most the drivers and they're working fine, however we can't find much info on this mysterious UGX device. Anyone have an idea on what this is, and to guarantee yourself a place in heaven a link to where I can find the drivers.
In fact, I haven't let up all the info, we're actually missing drivers for the following:
-Mass Storage Controller
-Network Controller
-PCI Device
-SM Bus Controller
Any advice of any kind will be very much appreciated. Any advice I can offer in return, such as what to do when your face to face with an angry honey badger, just lemme know.
Dev.
Hi Dev and welcome to Club Vaio.
Download the Preinstalled XP Drivers for the VGN-TX3XP from HERE AT SONY VAIO-LINK - the devices to install look the same to me.
Expand the download into a new folder C:\Drivers.
Open Device Manager and right-click on one of the uninstalled devices. Choose Update Driver -> Choose to install Manually -> Have Disc -> Browse to C:\Drivers and it will scan the directory and install the correct driver.
Repeat for each uninstalled device.
The UGX device is the Bluetooth - install it in the same way.
You may wish to download and install the Preinstalled XP Utilities from the same site which should make your special function keys work and install the Sony Power Management etc.

EDIT: If you find you have no sound, it could be because XP does not support High Definition Audio - you will need to install the Microsoft Hotfix KB888111 before you can get the soundcard to install.

Blencogo mate, if you were a busty blond I'd offer to take you out for a drink. Your suggestion did indeed work, so many thanks from everyone here.
Can I be so bold as to ask for another favour. A lady here at work has gone an bought another bloody vista only Vaio, not her fault I guess. The model is Sony Vaio FE41E. What older models do you reckon would also use the same drivers similar to the VGN-TX5MN/W?
Many thanks.
Till then next time.
Dev.
Sorry, it was the Sony Vaio VGN-FE41E.
Cheers.
