vcm_s_kf Files

A load of vcm_s_kf XXX.jpg.files have appeared on my VGC-LT2S Machine. Can anyone tell me what they are, why they are there, can they be removed and, if so, how? Thanks

Hi Kerria and welcome.

I am fairly sure these are duplicated thumbnail images of all the photographs on your Vaio created by Vaio Content Analyzer which isused to import/export media files into Vaio Media.

Vaio Media allows you to share your Music, Picures and Video across your home network. If you do not use Vaio Media, you may wish to turn off creation of these hundreds of files.

You can delete them but they will probably reappear. If you want to stop them appearing go to VAIO Content Analyser Settings in control panel.
In the 'Pictures and Videos' and 'Music' Tabs, uncheck all "analyse" check boxes. This will stop the content analyser from creating those annoying folders.

To remove all these existing folders select 'Monitoring Folders' and uncheck all the check boxes. Ignore the warning message that the folders are being deleted.

Obviously you do this at your own risk and if you are nervous about the action above you can always just hide these files as they are 'hidden files' in Vista. You will only see them if you have elected to see hidden files and folders in folder options - which may explain why more people have not noticed these hundreds of extra files!!

Thanks very much for that. I have just hooked up a new Sony Bravia TV with Internet TV hooked to my home network, and the capability to view all my pictures and play my music off the Vaio. Everything is explained!! I have also been told that I can just hide them by un-ticking the "Show hidden files" in Folder Options, which I have just done.

I have the same problem, and I want to get rid of the files, not just hide them. In Windows 7, the files and folders DO NOT disappear when set not to be monitored. All files seemingly have to be deleted manually. Could this be true?

Moreover, I am puzzled that Vaio Media works this way - why not establish a single folder containing the needed folders and files?
