VGC-JS1E Sound Off

My Pc says I have a Realtek HD Audio device.  I have installed the most recent driver and yet I am now informed that no Sound Device is installed.  Yet it appears on my Devive Manager list. ??

Help.

Hi Dave,

Your model is listed on the UK site.

http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/VGC-JS1E_B/updates

I suggest that you try reinstalling the original driver.

Hi davsmith3551,

As far as I can see there are no updated audio drivers available for your model on the Sony Support site so assume that you have installed a non Sony driver.

Drivers released by Sony are often taylored to the OEM device so original manufacturer drivers may not work as expected.

I suggest that you revert to the original driver either by download from Support or a driver rollback in Device Manager.

No my Sony is original.  The model is VGC-JS1E.  Bought in Uk. I see it is not listed on their website.  I expect that is a USA site.

Can I risk updating/downloading a driver of one of the others model numbers that are close to my number on their list.??   Surely the model number should be shown on their UK list of models

Hi Rich

I have found the driver in C:Windows/Drivers etc and got to Realtek Audio Driver  (File Folder)

When I click on this I get a long list with Folders

Config

DCC

Vista

Vista64

then a long list of other itemms

What do I click next

Setup   application ??

Lots of setup bits and pieces underneath it about setup etc

Hi Dave,

The driver that is available for download from the link I provided has a ‘Setup.exe’ within the root directory and therefore assume that you will find this in the Realtek driver folder on your hard drive – there is no need to open any folders within that directory.

Thanks Rich

Do I just now click on Setup.exe and let it get on with it. I am afraid I am a bit of a beginner on folders/files etc.

Cheers

Hi Dave,

Sorry I didn't make that clear - yes double click on Setup.exe.

If that doesn't solve the problem then there a couple more things we can try to get it to install.

Hi Rich

FANTASTIC  :smileyhappy::smileyhappy::smileyhappy:

I have just played my wifes favourite love song LOUD

She thinks I am great at fixing things

Should be OK tonight !!

Thanks a lot for your help.  Its a pity some web sites want to try and charge for simple solutions.

All the best

Dave
