I recently bought a vgc-rc202 and have had a few problems, number one being SUPPORT! jesus i have over 25 sony products including another 2 vaios and i still get poor service! thats my moan over.... lets see if the enthusiasts can shame them up..... i have an infrared unit (pvca-ir8u) and it has two jack plugs, i also have two leads with what looks like an infrared sensor on the end. 1.what are the two jack plugs for? 2.what are the two leads for?
Also does anyone know what the maximum resolution is on this pc grafics card cause i'm running a 1440x900 vga monitor and it wont run above 1280x1024.
By the way i found that installing windows media player 11 for media cetre corrupts media centre! my advice... dont do it!
Quite sad that the wireless network media receiver will only encrypt to WEP and not WPA which is totally secure... WEP can be hacked into very easy with free internet available software!
This thing about keeping the packaging is crazy i have a double bedroom full of empty boxes and this i assume i have to do for 12 months! Trust me the sony boxes are the biggest, and i thought the japanese invented origami and minaturisation!!!!
I must admit that the pc looks great but it is the heaviest pc i have ever lifted, shame it wasn't out the back of a lorry LOL
Hi elpirata,
I think you are talking about an "IR Blaster". This allows you to control a set-top-box like Sky, using the MCE Remote Control.
Have a look at THIS CONNECTION GUIDE
Are there any more screen resolutions available in Display -> Settings -> Advanced -> Adapter -> List All Modes. The maximum resolutions are set by the Graphics Card and the Monitor together.
Cheers the infrared query is now clearer, shame its not to extend the range of the blaster. means i have to be near pc to operate it i assume..... mind you i might try using my bluetooth k800i to control it.. next project!
Is there a way to watch analogue and digital tv through the same tv card/media center, it only seems to give me one or the other on install.
The max resolution listed is 1280x1024x32. i've tried installing the xerox xm3-19wb monitor drivers too.. no change.
In my old vaio i have a winfast A7600GS nvidia 256mb grafics card and that works 100% sets it to max 1440x900 without problems. this maybe a better card?
By the way support were supposed to call me back yesterday and suprise surprise they didnot.
Thanx dude you are helping
