I have a 3 year old Sony Vaio VGC-V2S Desktop with built in screen (also called PCV-E11M) with a dead hard disk drive. Does anyone know how to replace the drive? I've taken various screws off the back to get at the guts of the thing but can't see the drive anywhere. I'm hoping someone out there has already successfully done this or knows of an instruction manual that may be available.
Here's hoping!
Cheers.
Hi
I have changed the HDD in my VGC-V2S and you dont need to remove the cover. You need to remove the two small screws that are on each side of the pedastal (where the mains power is connected). you can then remove this cover, this exposes the hard drive and PSU. The hard drive is an ATA100 IDE unit and i have fitted an Hitachi 500GB drive (ide133) and all works fine!! hope this helps.
Could you place take some pictures...?
