I have the new vaio VGN- F11S and when put the vaio update receive a message : [the server could not be accessed.please try again].
Any idea
I had that same problem when I got my vaio. After doing a system recovery it does work. go figure
Just update by downloading the patches from the website. It's not that you'll have to do it often

Here is a link to the Drivers and Updates if your FE11S is not automatically displayed in the 'select model box', select FE11S and you should see a list of available updates for your model.
I had the very same problem, I waited for weeks to get a damm aswer online from sony. Everytime they suggest something it takes another week to get a new answer. Horrible help online....
First suggestion:

We would advise you to disable your start up icons in msconfig.
Before doing this make sure you disconnect from the Internet as your antivirus software would be stopped for this period
To do this go to
Start - Run - Msconfig -6

Under Startup tab Select disable all Apply - Close - Restart
On reboot - Put a tick in the message where it states do not show this message again.
Please let us know if this has resolved the issue.

If the software is not being blocked by a firewall - as it would seem as this would be disabled by means of using the MSCONFIG tool - please make sure you do have access to browse to the download area using your web browser;

This is where the downloads are found and you can access them manually if the tool fails to detect your internet connection.
OFCOURSE I DONT AGREE TO WORK AROUND THE PROBLEM I WANT THE DAMM THING TO WORK!
third solution:
You will need to reinstal this utility, please first check that it is available for reinstal as a standalone application.
Select Start Menu/All Programs/Vaio Recovery Tool/Vaio Recovery Utility.If you choose Options you will be able to select the specific application you need. If the application is not in the list - the Recovery can vary a little - you will need to run a Recovery of the C: drive in order to restore the software. Please note that performing the recovery will delete all your data on your C: partition and will restore it to its factory settings. If you want to avoid losing data, make sure to back up this data prior to performing the recovery.
THEY YUST DONT KNOW ANYTHING....waited weeks and they suggest exact the thing I did the first time it did not work....

carelino i try the solution with msconfig but not work.I think the only way to solve the promblem must need recovery system but waiting if sony realease some patch for that bug.:smileyhappy:
Could be your firewall blocking it, as it worked for me
And with disable firwall and antinirious still not work:smileysad:
Hi i had this problem too and i also found my firewall was blocking, so i disabled it and it still didnt work so i unlocked Windows Firewall. try it see wot happens if you havent already done so..
